The main beach stretches for an incredible 17 kilometres and makes Juist longest of the East Frisian islands. This is why Juist is called Töwerland, a sort of wonderland, in the local dialect.
As a North Sea spa resort, Juist is also renowned for its broad range of health & wellness services. After a quiet walk along the beach, or perhaps a windy one across the mudflats, you can relax and enjoy one of the many spa treatments on offer.
Juist is Germany’s only car-free island. Locals and guests get around the island by bike, horse and cart or on foot. The island has the ambitious aim to become the first climate-neutral tourist destination in the world. It is thanks to this and to other aims and successes of its sustainability policy that the island won the award for the most sustainable community in Germany in 2015.
