The Ghana Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture is thinking of setting-up “Akwaaba Hotels,” through a partnership with the private sector at various tourist sites in the country in order to boost domestic tourism.
The Tours Facility Manager of the Ghana Tourist Development Company (GTDC), George Adje Kwei Mensah, said that the hotels which would be set-up between two to three years, would be reasonably priced for indigenes to patronize tourist sites for economic growth.
The World Tourism Forum this year was hosted in Ghana. It is a global event held in different parts of the world to boost global tourism. The Secretariat is located in Istanbul, Turkey.
Mr. Mensah said that the Ministry of Tourism, was committed to re-orienting Ghanaians on a new sense of national pride in its heritage, culture and way of life through various programmes and campaigns.
