Goldberg joins Wizz Air as chief digital officer

Wizz AirJoel Goldberg has been appointed by Wizz Air to the newly-created position of chief digital officer.

 

 

He will take the position from October 1st and in his current role plays the role of senior director technology, Europe for Nike.

 

 

In his new role he will be responsible for the group’s e-commerce, data analytics, automation,IT innovation, IT infrastructure and services functions.

 

 

By the end of 2018 the London Luton –based fleet of brand new Airbus A320 and Airbus A321 airfcraft will add on nine  new aircraft and the number of local employees will reach to 350.

 

 

Owain Jones now the company’s chief corporate officer will be promoted to the role of managing director of Wizz Air UK , September onwards and will be reporting to József Váradi, the group’s chief executive.

 

 

Also, Marion Geoffroy who is currently the head of legal, will be promoted to chief corporate officer  effective  from September 2018 and will be responsible for the legal, human resources and facilities functions. He will be reporting to the group’s chief executive.

 

József Váradi, chief executive, stated that from the start of the digital technology has been the very core of their success. The world is currently becoming more focused on digital channels and technologies.

 

 
He further mentioned that with the new appointment of chief digital officer is to ensure that the digital needs is taken care of along with improving the business efficiency as Wizz Air intends to be undisputed cost-leader amidst European airlines.
