Surpassing America, Spain ranked second in the world in terms of the number of tourist arrivals for playing golf, as per a recent report titled “the impact of golf on Spain.’ To quote, Jose Miragalla, person behind the marketing at the Royal Spanish Golf Federation informed Xinhua in an interview on the event of UNIGOLF, a fair dedicated to golf held in Madrid, ‘Spain is a leading country in terms of tourism and regarding golf it is the same.
The quality of service and infrastructure at a national level, along with the good weather, it is key, then culture and gastronomy are also important. I think it is an ideal country to receive any kind of tourist.’ Last year, more than 272,280 Spanish citizens were associated with the Federation. However, the figure reached 1 million when overseas visitors were included. More than 400 million euros is generated every year by the said activity with people spending average a week in four and five-star hotels.
This type of tourism is great for the country, as the sector pin points, making immense contribution to the GDP. According to the report, more than 74.8 percent are spent by them than other tourists due to their high purchasing power with a daily spending of 171.4 euros (183.9 U.S. dollars).
