World’s number one search engine, Google has recently entered into a strategic partnership with the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation or NTDC to further make use of the potentials of tourism in the country, DAILY INDEPENDENT has gathered.
To wit, a one day extensive training in terms of top management staff on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has since kicked off.
NTDC explains that the joint venture is in the advancement of the huge impact of the activity of Google to influence and organize the world Information and make it accessible and helpful worldwide. Google on its part views tourism as a kind of catalyst for diversification and development of the economy of Nigeria.
Lately, the capacity building programme at the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) Headquarters in Abuja emphasized how tourism can put together digital technology in terms of marketing and endorse tourism in line with global best practice.
Mr. Folorunsho Coker, the Director General of the (NTDC), showed his pleasure over the training and greeted participants for the training. He highly praised the joint venture between Google team led by Miss Titi Akinsanmi, Head, Public Policy and Government Relations West and Francophone Africa with NTDC and additionally applauded their pledge towards continuous training as this is the second time that staff of the Corporation has benefitted from Google training.
“Digital technology is globally employed to drive tourism. Therefore I really appreciate Google for their commitment towards training of our staff’’ in the relevant technology, he said.
“The staff of NTDC are important stakeholders in the tourism value chain, because they are the implementers of the Corporation’s strategic imperatives, hence the need for this training, they must possess technical know-how and skills to drive the development of the Nigeria’s tourism industry”, he said.
