The latest addition to Google searches in the past month is the option to compare the shop-vacation rentals. Vacation rental filters for Barcelona, Berlin, Bordeaux, Cologne, Dresden, Frankfurt, Lisbon, Madrid, Munich, Milan, Naples, Nice, Nuremberg, Paris, Palermo, Porto, Reims, Rome, Seville, and Venice were found.

The results revealed a small subset of alternating lodging inventory similar to the traditional vacation rentals. There were collectively 7,000 property listings. When searching for the term “hotels in Paris” had an option to filter the result vacation rental when clicked on the menu accommodation type.

The feature did not work when searched for phrases like Vacation rentals in Paris, for phrases like “Hotels in Paris” cued the search box to appear.

The test is being conducted by Google in multiple markets of French and German sites. The cross- device test is operational on tablets, smartphones when searches were made on Google in US, UK, Germany and France. provides the bulk of content and is the biggest vacation rental players to have listings in the tool. But a mere 753,465 vacation rental listings is brought in by the Google’s system today.

Expedia Inc owned was there on the listing, while other vacation rental platforms like the Airbnb, FlipKey, HomeAway or Tujia were not found. This is a first attempt by a search giant to add vacation rentals as lodging category along with hotels.

Some of the listing was managed by the owner and the owner posted it on Google Places and Google Maps which automatically got included in the search result.

The officials predicted the chances of property being bookable are that it has to be booked by the advertiser and is matched on the Google’s listing through integration. The property owners who wished to be listed in the Google search automatically could check the notice from Google’s “Help” section and find the listings that are restricted from appearing which includes the “rental or for-sale properties like vacation homes, model home or vacant apartments.

It was suggested that for any given property to be listed, it has to be categorized as Holiday Apartment along with rich description, images and reviews.

However, there were certain fixes to be made, Google did not modify its search interface to provide options suitable for vagaries of hunting for a vocational rental.
