This grant would be utilized to support the cruise sector of Ontario’s Great Lakes including the development on an Ontario Cruise Ship Industry Business Case.
Mayor Gord McKay mentioned that the new development is a happy news for their partner CSIG municipalities as well.
He feels that this grant would be enabling them an assessment of what is happening in the growing cruise vessel industry and also to develop a robust business and strategy to considerably raise the cruise ship tourism in their region and throughout the Great Lakes.
These feelings were also shared with the mayors from the various municipalities of Ontario port.
Most of them think that the funds would be presenting an immense growth opportunity for the tourism industry and they expressed how happy they all were to be a part of this project.
Working together with the Great Lakes Cruise Coalition (GLCC) and its Canadian arm Cruise Ontario, CSIG is ready to develop a business case that it identifies the present state and future prospects of the cruise ship sector of Ontario’s Great Lakes.
CSIG comprises representatives from various port cities of Ontario including Parry Sound, Kingston, North East Manitoulin (Little Current), Sault Ste. Marie, Toronto, Thunder Bay, Midland and Windsor.
