The Great Room is proud to announce the launch of its latest property, situated within Raffles Arcade at the iconic Raffles Hotel Singapore. Our sixth location in Asia, officially opens on 20 July 2019.
The design, features and functionality of this new space draw upon all that we’ve learnt crafting and operating our five other co-working spaces in Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong. We have been able to look in the rear-view mirror, consolidating the most successful, well-received and appreciated aspects of our existing spaces, integrating the elements our members find most compelling and useful, and leveraging data that demonstrates how and why people become more productive and successful at The Great Room. Our philosophy is based upon fusing playful reimagination of spaces with polished refinement, in a way that helps maximise productivity while complementing (rather than compromising) the aesthetic. Since the opening of our first location at One George Street in 2016, The Great Room has evolved to become a truly cohesive, interdisciplinary brand, bringing together innovation and thought leadership in every city and every project – uniting urban hospitality, technology in the workplace, storytelling, high-impact content, wellness, art and lighting design.
At The Great Room’s new Raffles Arcade location, all these elements seamlessly combine. We achieve this mélange by stubbornly insisting upon having it all: exciting buildings and locations with like-minded landlord partners; and an all-star team of interior designers, engineering consultants, technologists, graphic designers and content developers to help shape the space and experience.
It’s All Work, It’s All Play
This is a workspace that truly meets modern individuals’ desire for theatre in everyday life, spanning work and play. In particular, Millennials (who now compromise 70% of the global workforce) expect to work, play and just live life larger. Our goal is to go above and beyond in satisfying that want. Unlike other co-working operators, whose offerings can be remarkably homogenous and transactional, The Great Room strives to create experiences as unique as our members’ personalities, needs and tastes.
Exceeding corporate ideals of flexibility and cross-collaboration (because those are merely the baseline), we design environments that spark moments of surprise, delight and spontaneous interaction in daily life, creating seven distinct atmospheres that reinterpret archetypal work environments: first impressions, social spaces, drinking and dining, dedicated work offices, meetings, events and life’s highlights.
Epic First Impressions
The grand glass atrium is the aesthetic pièce-de-résistance of The Great Room’s wing at the Raffles Arcade. It is also the most vivid articulation of the hotel-to-workspace mentality. And yet, as expansive and awe-inspiring as the Drawing Room is, it retains a warm and welcoming atmosphere. You only get to create a first impression once and the goal of this space is to supercharge all your first impressions and leave an enduring sense of heroic scale.
As Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural theory has it, people feel safe and confident when they’re ensconced beneath a low roof but have a view of the room – we have designed a warm ceiling and timber detailing to provide a residential vibe while offering generous sight lines of the surrounding hotel context and terrace life.
Coworking x Hospitality = Opportunities
Staying ahead of coworking and hotel trends, The Great Room is always working towards ensuring our offerings are relevant to the lives of our consumers. This collaboration is unique in scope and content – and is both attractive and accessible to travellers and locals alike.
