Greater Columbus Convention Center gets Sensory Certification

Greater Columbus Convention Center  is now Certified Sensory Inclusive and allow guests to enjoy in the venue.

 

 

The certification was issued by the KultureCity, a non-profit organisation located in Birmingham, Alabama that is responsible for creating sensory-inclusive venues.

 

 

Individuals having sensory challenges will get assistance like those having autism , dementia, PTSD and other health concerns.

 

 

Amy Huggins, GCCC’s director of culture and training was proud to be at the forefront of many innovative programs, and making all of our guests feel welcome, safe and accommodated is at the top of the list.

 

 

She was  especially proud to partner with KultureCity to receive additional training and resources to become a better host to their guests with special sensory needs.

 

 

Medical professional have trained the GCCC staff to recognize guests and sensory needs and to handle sensory-overload situation. They also completed an online quiz to complete the certification.

 

 

GCCC was equipped with sensory bags having KultureCity VIP identification badges, noise-canceling headphones, fidget tools, verbal cue cards and weighted lap pads. These are available at two GCCC guest service centers and quiet zones have been added as a further comfort.

 

The KultureCity mobile app can be downloaded by the sensory-sensitive attendees to review the venue’s available features and learn what to expect upon arrival at the convention center.
