According to the official data that has been released by a travel website known as Trivago portrays that the average online price every night for a double room in Greece has dropped by about 6% year-on-year to 79 euros against the existent 84 euros in March 2016.
In Athens, the average hotel rates have slumped by almost 2% to 81 euros.
And, in Thessaloniki, the prices have remained stagnant at 79 euros. Trivago has recorded a decline in a majority of Greek destinations and it includes Xanthi, Volos, Rhodes, Larissa, Kavala, Kalamata, Hania, Iraklio, Alexandroupoli and Arachova.
Ruling this trend are the hotels that are based in Parga, Nafpolio, Kastoria and Ioannina.
This can be compared to the drop in hotel rates in Turkey that amounts to nearly 25.6% this month from a year earlier. The average online price for the Turkish hotels had dropped from 78 euros in March 2016 to 58 euros this year even as the hoteliers here are making attempts to boost tourism in a certain destination that has suffered many terrorist attacks.
