Addressing the female employees on the occasion, Acting Chief of Finance Officer Sahar Ataei said, “I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all Bahraini women for their significant achievements and contributions to the Kingdom; As we gather to celebrate Bahraini Women’s Day, initiated by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Women.”
“Gulf Air has always been a champion for women. Today, Gulf Air has 926 female staff, – 33% of the airline’s total workforce. In finance alone I am proud to say 44% of the total number of employees are women. Bahraini women are represented in all the airline’s divisions. We have a female captain, female senior first officers, female first officers, female licensed engineers, female cabin crew, female doctors and female accountants; each playing a key role within the airline.”
Commemorating the Bahraini Women’s Day, the national carrier is featuring a few of its dedicated Bahraini female employees from various departments through a social media campaign on Gulf Air’s Facebook page.
Gulf Air has been a pioneer in encouraging and offering career opportunities to national females; the airline, in association with Tamkeen, has run a number of initiatives to encourage Bahraini women to join the airline.
