Gulf Air, the Kingdom of Bahrain’s national carrier, recently marked World Health Day 2016, dedicated this year to diabetes, with a company-wide initiative consisting of raising awareness about the rise in diabetes, its consequences, how to prevent the disease, diagnose it and treat and care for those individuals with diabetes in addition to general initiatives to promote healthier lifestyles.
The Gulf Air Health Clinic in collaboration with the National Labour Union of Gulf Air held a number of activities at the airline’s Muharraq headquarters which included a dedicated health seminar, a yoga class and free medical examinations including complimentary screening tests for blood glucose, blood pressure and other vitals in addition to complimentary dental checkups.
As the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and an integral national infrastructure asset Gulf Air prides itself on having a special connection with the Bahraini community, and is involved in various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives with a number of local organizations. As a responsible global citizen the airline has, most recently, supported World Cancer Day 2016 in collaboration with the Bahrain Cancer Society and previously partnered with Dreams Society, on the occasion of World Charity Day, donating airline tickets to the local charity in order to help them realize the dreams of children effected with terminal illnesses and debilitating diseases. Additionally, Gulf Air collaborated with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) office in Bahrain to celebrate World Environment Day and raise environmental awareness amongst all members of the local community.
