A new and most developed private railway station will open for the public after three years in Habibganj, a sub urban area in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh and this will be the country’s first private railway station. Habibganj will be based on the high end infrastructural facilities and airport like features for the passengers.
This world class railway station is to come under a public-private partnership (PPP). The Bansal Group of Bhopal is taking up the construction and maintenance of this railway station. Habibganj is under the governance of Western Indian Railway Circuit.
Bansal Group is investing Rs 100 crore to totally refurbishing of the Habibganj railway station, which was opened in the year 1979.
There will be more than Rs 350 crore spent on developing four commercial land parcels in a geographical area of 17,245 square meters on a 45-year lease.
The Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation (IRSDC) has announced that Habibganj station will be fully renovated and refurbished according to international standards.
This will be an environment-friendly station, which will utilise a solar energy and will have facilities for the physically challenged. There will also be evacuation facilities, if emergency arise. The premises of the station can be evacuated in four minutes and points of safety reached in six minutes.
The progress in going on and this railway station will be opened to passengers in the next three years.
This railway station will also have parking space that will give space to cars, two-wheelers, rickshaws, taxis and buses to halt. The station will also have lifts and escalators for the arriving and the departing passengers.
Indian Railways has identified 400 important railway stations for redevelopment, but Habibganj will be the first to offer the new, modern and luxurious experience for the passengers.
