Hangzhou Tourism Commission in joint venture with Expedia Media Solutions, presents the “Silk Road Race, Explore the Living Hangzhou” tourism campaign. Re-initiating the new Silk Road, the campaign aims to fortify the bond between Europe and China.
Remembering the glory of the Renaissance, explorers from England, Germany and France would compete against each other to reach China and unfold Hangzhou’s rich heritages.
Revisiting the history of the Silk Road, one thousand year of cultural connections were made through the 5500-mile route connecting China with the world. The campaign re-establishes the Silk Road by drawing a virtual path connecting the west with the east.
Participants from selected countries can take part by retweeting or creating a tweet with the hashtag, #silkroadrace, to unlock Hangzhou’s “See, Do, Eat, Stay” travel tips.
The G20 Summit 2016 held in Hangzhou has prospered her tourism development and drawn attention to her iconic historical and cultural heritage for international audience; the change has landed her the 7th spot for best places to travel in 2016 by Travel + Leisure magazine. “Silk Road Race, Explore the Living Hangzhou” campaign enables travelers worldwide to rediscover Hangzhou, China, for example, visiting the 5000-year silk-making culture at the China National Silk Museum.
