Boxing Day Swim, 26th December 2015 – Tenby
Celebrating its 45th anniversary this year the Tenby Boxing Day Swim will be taking place on the popular Pembrokeshire’s resort’s North Beach. It’s now a local festive tradition attracting thousands of spectators and around 600 crazy but brave bathers, many in fancy dress. Organised by Tenby Sea Swimming Association (TSSA), the swim goes from strength to strength each year with canoes, raft racing and much more before the great immersion which starts at 11.30am. Swimmers can collect for their own charities and good causes, or for those nominated by TSSA. There’s also a huge beach bonfire around which the shivering swimmers are presented with their commemorative medals.
32nd New Year’s Day Swim, 1st January 2016 – Saundersfoot
Taking a dip in the icy waters off Saundersfoot, on Pembrokeshire’s south coast has been an annual New Year’s Day tradition since 1984. Last year the charity event attracted a record 1,700 hardy swimmers plus thousands of spectators to cheer them on; a similar number is expected to celebrate the arrival of 2016 on this 32nd anniversary swim. Swimmers are invited to help raise money for their chosen charity.
