Boxing Day Swim – Tenby
Celebrating its 43rd anniversary this year the Tenby Boxing Day Swim will be taking place on the popular Pembrokeshire’s resort’s North Beach. Now a local festive tradition attracting thousands of spectators and around 600 crazy but brave bathers, many in fancy dress, this year’s theme is ‘pantomime’. High tide on Boxing Day morning coincides with the 11.30am start of the swim, which is organised by Tenby Sea Swimming Association (TSSA). As the swim goes from strength to strength each year, the event grows with canoes, raft racing and much more before the great immersion. Swimmers can collect for their own charities and good causes, or for those nominated by TSSA. There’s also a huge beach bonfire around which the shivering swimmers are presented with their commemorative medals. For more information visit www.tenbyboxingdayswim.co.uk. This year’s swim is sponsored by self-catering specialist agency FBM Holidays and solicitors Lewis, Lewis and Co.
