Havana hosts 20th International Poetry Festival

Havana Poetry FestivalThe 20th International Poetry Festival kicked off Havana yesterday (May 24). The festival will see the participation of Cuban as well as foreign poets.

The exhibitions ”Isla negra – Isla verde” and ”Luces atrave(r)sadas”, which combine poetry and visual arts, will be inaugurated during the festival.

Important Cuban writers, like Miguel Barnet,and Nancy Morejon, will participate in the reading of poems Cantar de Alejandro, dedicated to the 90th birthday of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.


Antonio Guerrero, Hero of the Republic of Cuba, will also share his poems.
The House of Poetry, the headquarters of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) and the Casa del Alba Cultural, will host the activities of the event.
The International Poetry Festival of Havana was celebrated for the first time in 1996 and today stands out as an ideal space for promoting that genre through exchanges between Cuban and foreign creators.
