The United States won the 66th edition of the Ernest Hemingway International Fishing Tournament, ACN Cuban news agency reported.
After four intense days, the US crew named “Unbelievable” obtained the crown among 90 assistant vessels. The Bull Run and Calhoun Queen from the US obtained second and third place respectively.
Other winners at the event were Blue Heron making a 31.5 pound Dorado and Sea Clusion with a 39 pound fish both also from the US that participated with 83 vessels.
The winner with the largest Tuna went to Doris that represented the fishing community of Cojimar in the municipality of Habana del Este. Solfia D from Canada won the prize for the first capture made by a woman.
Alexis Trujillo, First Deputy Tourism Minister characterized the tournament as successful. He pointed out at the closing ceremony that during the four day fishing event, there were 88 capture of Marlins, the highest amount in history.
Trujillo invited the participants to compete in the next edition to be held from May 29th to June 3rd in 2017.
