Hawaiian Airlines spokesperson Alex Da silva said in a statement that shortly before arrival, crew members identified a “low-level threat” and immediately informed authorities.
The plane was carrying 266 passengers and 10 crew members. According to the reports, it landed on Friday morning anywhere from 10 minutes late to 50 minutes depending on passenger accounts and flight tracking services. After that, it was directed to a remote gate at the airport where it was met by police.
There are conflicting reports today over the level of a reported threat however, as per the latest news, passengers were allowed to leave the airplane about 90 minutes after its scheduled 11:37 a.m. arrival in Maui. Some of the passengers however said that their baggage was being screened as a precaution even though it had already gone through security at LAX.
