Certain engine complications compelled the pilots aboard Flight 177 to go for an emergency landing on Wednesday, obtaining higher priority as compared to the other flights. Merle Alberts who is a resident of Hawaii island said that he had suffered an injury while he was on this flight. Later, he was taken to the emergency room on Thursday to have his injury checked.
Alberts said that he had been seated next to one of the engines of the aircraft. And, he added that he felt as if the force of the engine shutting down had caused a portion of the overhead to fall off.
He exclaimed that the noise was a large boom.
And, he said that a flight attendant had assisted him as he made efforts to pull the broken overhead off him. And, he also mentioned that the passengers were very relieved and congratulated the pilot for being able to make the landing perfectly.
Hawaiian Airlines said that the captain had conducted an engine shutdown on the engine as it was vibrating and announced an emergency landing in Honolulu.
