The HBAA, the trade association for the hotel booking agency, apartment and venue community, has announced that Louise Goalen (head of travel & venue finding for Universal WorldEvents) has joined the HBAA Events Committee. The committee is responsible for organising the landmark events in the HBAA calendar, including the Annual Forum, Annual Dinner, CEO Dinner and HBAA Golf Classic.
The HBAA supports hotel booking agencies and venues by maintaining a full schedule of training, meeting and networking events throughout the year. Members include agencies, hotels, serviced apartments and venues – ranging from global hotel brands to sporting venues. All members agree to adhere to the HBAA Code of Conduct, which defines best practice between agents and venues.
Following the HBAA’s Annual Dinner in February, Louise will also take over from Jill Fleming of Absolute Corporate Events as chair of the Events Committee. As chair, Louise will also have a seat on the executive committee, strengthen member relationships through networking opportunities, and increase the Association’s membership with a ‘new and potential members day’.
Having worked in hotel operations for five years and agency side with Universal WorldEvents for 18 years, Louise has considerable experience to bring to her new role. Louise commented: “I hope to use my position in the industry to help raise the HBAA’s profile. We want to allow agencies to develop stronger strategic partnerships with our venue suppliers through the HBAA’s calendar of events in order to work cohesively across the board. I hope to encourage members to attend these events and promote the Code of Conduct as standard across the industry to ensure best practice is adopted by all.”
Chris Parnham, chair of the HBAA, said of the appointment: “It is fantastic to have Louise on board. Her knowledge and extensive relationships with hotels and venues means that she will bring new ideas to the table. We have no doubt that Louise will provide invaluable support as the HBAA continues to grow and adapt to ensure we meet the needs of our members in an ever changing environment.”
