The hotel would be termed as Hilbert’s Hotel and would be the winning idea of the firm of Snøhetta. The architects of this massive hotel project have said that the hotel would be designed such that it seems to be composed of several shards of broken sea ice. They have added that a smooth contiguous white glass skin would be applied on the outer surface of the hotel.
This layer would truly mark a sharp contrast to the masonry facades of its surroundings.
Snøhetta has mentioned that the hotel would be a brand new ‘beacon’ for Helsinki. The concept is contextual as well as generic at the same time, indicating a rich history. It has also shared that it is really excited to be a part of the grand architectural heritage of Helsinki.
Kjetil T. Thorsen, the founding partner of Snøhetta has said that they are making attempts to promote the qualities of the hotel and utilize them as a goft to the hotel guests of Helsinki.
The public spaces of this hotel would comprise a ground floor that would remain mostly open. Also, there would be rooftop terraces, bars and restaurants.
From the exteriors, the hotel would keep altering in its appearance, changing from transparent to opaque. During nightfall, lights from the rooms would create various colorful patterns glowing all across the façade.
