An overwhelming number of visitors thronged on downtown on Friday, as dark clouds beautified the horizon.
But, before they were permitted to make their way to the outdoor main stage where pre-show sound checks were being conducted, every visitor was compelled to undergo heightened security through the white security tent. It was based on the western side of the National War Memorial on Wellington Street.
The wait was about 10 minutes last on Friday morning.
This time is expected to increase on Saturday with a large number of people estimated to move through the airport-styled tough security all through the day and evening.
Water stations with cups have been positioned at different points along the line to make sure that the visitors are properly hydrated.
Once they arrive at the entrance of the tent, the security personnel would ask the people to remove their coats and their purses and bags would be searched thoroughly. Furthermore, each of the visitors would be scanned with a security wand by the security officers.
The tourist companies have meanwhile offered brochures to the masses and also, the information officers have provided adequate information about the events that would be taking place in three celebration zones including Major’s Hill Park and Parliament Hill.
At Major’s had roving animators on Friday. Another popular visitor attraction is the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau where various indigenous performances were hosted on Friday evening.
The streets were filled with a large number of police personnel.
The officers gave directions to tourists and also others about how to make their way to parliament Hill. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife, Sophie made s surprise visit to the teepee.
Following the impromptu meeting, they both exited the teepee and were flanked by security.
A few moments later, Trudeau and his wife appeared on the main stage to rehearse their lines for the performance that would be held on 1st July. They smiled and waved at the cheerful conglomeration. As they wrapped up the five-minute rehearsal, Justin Trudeau yelled mentioning about his love for Canada and Canadians.
