Hilton Hotels partner with Amex to provide free rooms for medical professionals

Hilton Hotels have decided to partner with American Express (Amex) to provide around 1 million hotel rooms free of cost for healthcare workers across the U.S. The hotel rooms would be provided to medical professionals fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic from the frontline from next week.

All doctors, nurses, EMTs, paramedics, and other medical staff who need a place to sleep, recharge or isolate from their families would be provided with rooms by Hilton and American Express without any charge until the end of May. American Express, Hilton’s long-standing strategic partner is also investing in the donation of the hotel rooms, which will be provided at or below cost by Hilton’s network of independent owners and franchisees.

Hilton has started working with 10 medical associations that represent more than 1 million healthcare workers together across the United States. The companies will now cover their stays starting April 13 through May 31. This would help the healthcare workers to easily find accommodation as well as save the cost of stay while they work against the grave crisis.

Christopher J. Nassetta, President and CEO, Hilton Hotels and Resorts said in a statement that medical professionals are working in the most challenging circumstances and sacrificing their own needs for the greater good of other people. He mentioned that Hilton is honored to extend its hospitality services to such heroes during a difficult time.

Stephen J. Squeri, Chairman and CEO, American Express further added that medical workers are serving the people courageously and selflessly on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic. He shared that the company is honored to support this initiative with Hilton to provide medical workers a place to rest, recharge and contribute to keeping their loved ones safe during the time of crisis.

Rooms will be available across a variety of Hilton brands, including Hampton by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, DoubleTree by Hilton and others. Team Members who serve the hotels during this time has also been provided additional training on relevant health and safety measures to protect themselves and the guests. Hotel rooms and other adjoining areas will continue to be sanitized using industrial grade cleaners and updated cleaning protocols.
