Weeks after EgyptAir flight MS804 crashed in Mediterranean Sea, another EgyptAir flight from Cairo to Beijing had to make an emergency landing on 8th June, after the authority received a bomb threat. Early in the morning, information was received by the Cairo airport about a bomb on EgyptAir flight 955. An anonymous person called the Cairo airport authority regarding a possibility of explosive devices on the flight.
The flight left Cairo at 11:20 pm local time and travelled across Turkey, Armenia and Azerbaijan. After three hours of journey, the flight diverted its path and landed in Uzbekistan safely.
Right after the Airbus A330 landed at Urgench International Airport, 118 passengers and 17 crew members were evacuated cautiously and the security services examined the flight thoroughly. But, no such explosives were found from the flight.
After the search, an Egyptian official stated, “The plane is preparing to resume its journey. It was a hoax, thank God.”
EgyptAir spokesperson informed that after the anonymous call came, Cairo airport authority made a satellite call to the pilot and asked him to land at the nearby airport. He also said, “All necessary procedures are currently underway for the resuming of the flight to Beijing airport from Urgench International Airport.”
The EgyptAir authority has become very jumpy after the flight MS804 crashed in the Mediterranean. But safety of the passengers and crew onboard is all that matters.
