Hong Kong Airlines made its inaugural daily direct service to Vancouver, Canada on 30 June. To commemorate the official launch of this new route, Hong Kong Airlines held celebration events at both Hong Kong International Airport and Vancouver International Airport.
All passengers scheduled to depart the inaugural flight from Hong Kong were presented with a commemorative certificate and souvenir bag to mark the occasion and show gratitude for their support of the new route. On arrival at Vancouver Airport on 30 June morning, flight HX080 was greeted with a traditional water cannon salute, followed by a series of celebratory events. All passengers, flight crew and representatives of Hong Kong Airlines received a warm welcome.
“The launch of the new route from Vancouver represents an exciting new chapter for Hong Kong Airlines as it expands services into Canada with the intention of cultivating a global audience,” said George Liu, Chief Marketing Officer, and Hong Kong Airlines, who also arrived in Vancouver on the first flight. “Hong Kong Airlines is so excited today to fly into Vancouver on the eve of Canada’s one hundred and fiftieth birthday. This is so special for us.”
In addition, as a commitment to support barrier-free travel, Hong Kong Airlines sponsored 7 representatives of the Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation round trip tickets to Vancouver. The delegation joined the inaugural flight and felt excited about flying long haul.
