Hong Kong Airlines hosts its first junior programme for Taiwan students

Published on : Wednesday, March 29, 2017

Hong Kong AirlinesFull-service airline Hong Kong Airlines for the first time engaged students from Taiwan in the airline’s “Triumph Sky High” Junior Programme. The participating students visited an aircraft and toured around the airport facilities in Hong Kong, learning and experiencing different aspects of airline operations, accompanied by Hong Kong Airlines’ ground service staff and crew members.

30 participants including students, teachers, and volunteers from Taiwan Yong Lin Foundation and representatives from Hong Kong Airlines’ Taiwan office paid a visit to Hong Kong Airlines’ catering service facility, the first stop of the tour, where they learnt about how inflight meals were prepared. They were then guided by the airline’s ground service staff for check-in experience at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA). The group moved to the newly launched Midfield Concourse at HKIA to board a Hong Kong Airlines aircraft, where pilots and cabin crew of Hong Kong Airlines shared their aviation knowledge and experiences. The students showed great interest in cockpit and cabin structure, business class facilities and life jackets. Some students even won the chance to make inflight passenger announcement and to serve meals as a pilot or cabin crew.

While developing rapidly over the years, Hong Kong Airlines takes it upon itself to nurture both local and overseas young aviation talents. Since its launch in 2014, more than 600 primary and secondary students from different background had participated in the “Triumph Sky High” Junior Programme. The programme aims to offer the participating students a chance to take a closer look at and to experience different roles in airline operations through fun and educational approaches. Hong Kong Airlines hopes to support the aviation industry by encouraging more youngsters to realize their dreams to fly.
