ITE Hong KongAmid social unrest, Hong Kong outbound by number of departures in summer grew by small margin though inbound into Hong Kong dropped significantly!  Since June, convention centers are accessible and fully operational, and international exhibitions there including ITE2019 held as planned, so they are not target of protests!

Hong Kong citizens from July to September during peak holiday season this year made 23.0 million departures (outbound), up 1.7%, of which 3.30 million via airport, down 0.8%, and 131101 via Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, up 0.45%! Apparently, overseas holiday remains part of life style!

In September this year, Japan saw a spectacular 23.56% growth of arrivals from Hong Kong, bringing third quarter total to 562,970!  In the first 9 months this year, outbound of the city to Thailand grew 2.74% to 799,474; and to Australia grew 2.70% to 232,300!

A Big and Quality Source Market

With around 7.4 million people but spending US$26.5 billion on outbound in 2018, Hong Kong rank World’s 11st and Asia’s 3rd largest source market after China (mainland) and South Korea!  A quality market, Hong Kong’s per capita outbound spending in 2018 averaged US$3580 way above those of Australia at around US$1500, UK at US$1150, and Germany at US$1140!
