The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao bridge, the world’s longest manmade sea crossing, completed major chunk of construction on December.
The duration of preparation was six years and it took eight years to build the 55-kilometer-long bridge linking Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macao.
Major work on the bridge was on a 22.9-kilometer-long main bridge, a 6.7-kilometer-long tunnel and an artificial island off the bridge, the most technically demanding part of the entire construction.
It is expected that the Y-shaped bridge will cut travel time between Hong Kong and Zhuhai from three hours to just 30 minutes.
The Greater Bay Area will see a highly convenient and efficient transportation network having a good expanding capacity of road, rail and ports.
