The Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA), the state’s tourism agency, has released a request for qualifications (RFQ) to seek a qualified and experienced contractor to represent Hawai‘i in the Latin America Major Market Area (MMA) as a favorable visitor destination and in a manner that will drive incremental visitation and revenues for the state of Hawai‘i.
The HTA will select the firm determined to be the most qualified to efficiently represent Hawai‘i in Latin America, primarily the countries of Argentina, Brazil and Mexico, and who can ensure a positive returnon-investment from marketing expenditures. The HTA will take into consideration multiple factors including applicant qualifications and experience in accordance with the evaluation criteria set forth in the RFQ.
The HTA previously contracted an in-market general sales agent (GSA) to facilitate consumer, trade and media inquiries as well as conduct destination training for trade professionals in market. The GSA contract expired in June 2012.
In line with the HTA’s efforts to grow Hawai’i’s emerging markets, the HTA is inviting submittals from qualified contractors that have proven expertise that will enhance visitor arrivals and spending from Latin America. The HTA intends to award a contract for this RFQ in December 2013. The period of performance under the new contract runs for two years from Jan. 1, 2014 through Dec. 31, 2015. The written qualification statements are due no later than Dec. 2, 2013 at 4:30 p.m., HAST (Hawai‘iAleutian Standard Time) and in the manner described in the RFQ.
