However, this year, as many as 20 hotels have been closed ahead of the Biketoberfest on account of Hurricane Matthew.
One of the tourists from Indiana named Jennifer Cardwell made a 18-hour trip to this region. However, she was clueless whether the hotel she had booked is among the ones that are affected by Hurricane Matthew. She said that she was really anxious about it since generally people of the affected hotels are displayed steadily.
Cardwell then said that she had been trying to contact the hotel since a week via the phone and also online.
But then, she finally decided to take the risk and packed her bags as she wished to find out things on her own. Luckily, she discovered that the storm had not been able to damage the hotel where she had decided to put up.
Out of the 140 motels and hotels that were based in Daytona Beach, at least 20 had been closed by Hurricane Matthew and this includes the Hilton Hotel that has 740 hotel rooms.
One of the local bikers named Rick Cole has been a part of the Biketoberfest since 20 years.
But then, he too feels that this year, a scanty amount of people would actually be present at the Biketoberfest because of the Hurricane. He was among the Florida residents who ran away from their homes prior to Hurricane Matthew. And, when he returned he was simply shocked by the damage.
He said a major part of his house was damaged by the wind and water.
He added that the beach was covered by debris and this was one of the main reasons that dissuaded people from making trips to Daytona Beach this year. Cole however said that the die-hard fans of Biketoberfest would attend it nevertheless.
Biketoberfest starts today and would continue through Sunday.
