Hurricane Michael upgraded to Category 4, forecast to hit Florida, 13 died over weekend

Before the monstrous Hurricane Michael is due to make landfall in Florida it has been upgraded to a category 4 storm. By midday is expected to make landfall with sustained winds of 130 mph (210 km/h).

So far more than 370,000 people in Florida were asked to evacuate and shift to higher ground. Due to storm rains and floods at least 13 people reportedly died in Central America over the weekend.

A state of emergency has been declared in Florida, the Miami-based National Hurricane Center (NHC) stated that it has turned into an extremely dangerous category 4 hurricane. The north-eastern Gulf coast will be facing heavy rainfall and has been warned of life-threatening storm surge. There will also be additional strengthening before it makes a landfall in the Florida Panhandle or Big Bend area.

It was reported the eye of Michael was located 170 miles south-west of the coastal city of Apalachicola at 2:00 local time. There were further warming that the regions of Florida might face storm surges of up to 13 ft at present Michael us moving northwards at 12 mph.

There will be possible severe damage to well-built homes and trees uprooted as on the Saffir-Simpson hurricane scale, category 4 includes winds of up to 156 mph.

As per National Weather Service more than 300 miles of coastline were under threat, there might be tornados in Alabama.

President Donald Trump said  on Tuesday that they were very well prepared for the incoming hurricane.

NHC further added that weakening is expected after landfall after the Hurricane moves across the south-eastern United States.

Rick Scott, Florida Governor urges the residents to follow the advisory issued. But despite warnings as per the local officials only a smaller number of people could move away.
