Hurricane Nicole has prompted at least two cruise liners to alter their itineraries. This itinerary change comes just within a week after Hurricane Matthew compelled several cruise ships to alter their voyages in the east coast and Caribbean.
Norwegian and Royal Caribbean have changed their routes for their cruise ships that were scheduled to call at the Bermuda port. It is here that the storm is expected to make landfall on Thursday.
At present, Hurricane Nicole has developed into a category 2 hurricane though initially it was weakened temporarily by Hurricane Matthew.
The speed of Hurricane Nicole is 100 miles per hour. It is expected that the storm would gain momentum by the end of today. It is also believed that Nicole would become a strong hurricane by the time it reaches the port at Bermuda.
The National Hurricane Center said that the core of this hurricane is expected to hover over Bermuda on Thursday.
Therefore, the weather experts have released a hurricane warning for the entire island. The tropical storm conditions including the chances of isolated tornados might begin soon. Since the storm is very close to Florida, one cruise ship sailing out of Fort Lauderdale have been affected.
Within the following few days, Anthem of the Seas, Grandeur of the Seas and Norwegian Dawn would be calling at Bermuda.
The cruise ship named Allure of the Seas that had departed on 9th October has been rerouted in order to steer clear of the Hurricane Nicole. This ship would avoid Sr. Maarten and St. Thomas. Instead, it is expected to visit Haiti, Labadee, Puerto Rico and San Juan on Thursday.
Norwegian Breakaway’s departure that was scheduled to take place on 9th October has also been delayed. The cruise shop would avoid Bermuda and call at Nassau and Port Canaveral.
