ICCA President Arnaldo Nardone: “If you are engaged in a globally-connected business you need to understand how China is shaping and driving our global economy. Our Congress in Shanghai provides the perfect opportunity to our members to learn how to communicate and work with Chinese consumers, Chinese delegates, Chinese business partners or Chinese competitors. To experience a Civilization State with thousands of years of sophisticated culture, a booming consumer market with a population of over 1.3 billion, unique business models and entrepreneurial thinking, and a city that is defining the shape of the 21st century metropolis.”
This year’s Congress programme includes a number of “Out of the box sessions”, with visits to the Shanghai World Expo, which showcases how a major event can transform and re-imagine an entire city district. And a visit to the Research and Development facility of SKF, a global world-class engineering company, which showcases how multinational companies are engaging with China as a target business market, as a centre of innovation that can benefit global business objectives, and as a source of highly-skilled personnel.
The programme also includes two half day “conferences-within-a-conference” sessions, one for CEOs and one for delegates whose companies are planning to invest and expand in China; there is a formal debate on the place of commission in our industry, a discussion forum on the controversial field of business ethics, and contributions from experts in media relations, reputation management, and disruptive technology. International association clients from top medical and business organisations will be sharing their views on how the industry is evolving alongside the most experienced ICCA members.
ICCA CEO Martin Sirk commented: “In total, almost 120 members and guest speakers will be contributing towards this year’s programme, drawn from every region of the world. We’ve incorporated more innovative formats than ever, and topics designed to shake up traditional thinking – including a session on identifying and making use of staff skills, run talent-show format, and an experiential exploration of how to use humour in conference marketing!”
The ICCA Congress facilitates business opportunities for all delegates throughout the event programme. A hundred ICCA members have registered for the Business Exchange, at which high potential association meeting information is shared face-to-face.
ICCA is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, which will end with a climactic Gala evening at the ICCA Congress in Shanghai.
