Aileen Hickey, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for the Nordic Region, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite representatives of Icelandair, as well as influential Icelandic travel agents and travel writers to Northern Ireland, so they could sample and see for themselves what we have on offer for future Icelandic holidaymakers.

“The new Icelandair flight is really good news for tourism to Northern Ireland. Not only will it help grow visitor numbers from Iceland, but this new service also offers connectivity between North America and Belfast. We are delighted to co-operate with Icelandair and Belfast City Airport, to maximise the promotion of this new flight. As an island destination, the importance of convenient flights cannot be overstated – they are absolutely critical to achieving growth in inbound tourism.”

The Icelanders’ busy itinerary included a visit to Titanic Belfast and SS Nomadic, as well as visits to Queen’s University, the Ulster Museum, the Cathedral Quarter and the Discover Ulster-Scots Centre in Belfast. They also visited Royal Belfast Golf Club at Craigavad.
