Blue Lagoon is one of the most spectacular locales of Iceland, being a top favorite of celebrities like Jay Z and Beyonce Knowles. However, positioned on the Reykjanes Peninsula in the south-western part of the island, it continues to be among the most overcrowded attractions of the country.
It had attracted over 700,000 visitors who had flocked to its mineral-rich waters in the year 2014.
This number has increased even as the tourist boom of Iceland has started expanding. Right now, the Blue Lagoon is ready to welcome its very first luxury hotel that would be built on-site. It would actually provide access to a private swimming pool that would set the area apart from the main body of the lagoon.
The construction of this hotel is already in process.
The hotel is expected to open its door to the guests in the autumn of 2017. Named as Moss Hotel, it would offer as many as 62 luxurious rooms all furnished in the perfect Scandinavian style, equipped with floor-to-ceiling windows, freestanding bathtubs, overlooking the volcanic landscape.
This hotel would have rooms on the ground floor that would offer direct access to the geothermal waters via private terraces while the upper floors would have balconies.
And, the hotel would also be a part of a complex that includes Lava Cove, a subterranean spa that would have a lava rock steam room, sauna as well as a range of mineral-based treatments. For a more delightful experience, the guests would be capable of renting out a private, self-contained spa called Hidden Cove.
It actually comes with a private masseuse and on-call chef.
The best part about it is that it is even enriched with its exclusive private section of the lagoon.
Moss Restaurant would offer traditional Icelandic dishes, along with a seven-course serving menu that is available at the Chef’s Table. Apart from that, guests can soak in the ambiance of enjoying drinks in an elegant bar at the top floor that has exquisite views of the breathtaking landscape all around.
