ImexThe ‘Legacy of Positive Policy Making’ will be debated when this year’s IMEX Policy Forum welcomes around 40 policy makers from national as well as regional governments with almost 80 well-known meetings industry professionals. At the InterContinental Hotel Frankfurt, the forum will takes place on Tuesday May 15th, the first day of IMEX in Frankfurt 2018.

The IMEX Policy Forum adheres from its preceding incarnation as the annual IMEX Politicians Forum as a hub where the meetings and world public policy makers connect together and exchange views. The agenda of this year has been particularly designed to see the way to bridge the ‘partnership gap’ that exists between governments, national and local, and the meetings industry.

After the morning visit to the IMEX exhibition, delegates will carry on with the afternoon national government discussion in partnership with the United Nations World Tourism Organisation or UNWTO headed by Nina Freysen-Pretorius, President of the International Congress & Convention Association (ICCA) along with a workshop headed by Professor Greg Clark CBE, the eminent advisor on cities. Exploring ‘The evolution of cities in the meetings industry’, the workshop has been exclusively intended for the local, municipal as well as regional policy makers and destination representatives.

To introduce the open forum, the centrepiece of the day, Gloria Guevara, President & CEO of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) will give an opening speech, followed by a panel discussion and open debate amongst delegates. In the debate, topical issues like over-tourism, the creation of innovation and knowledge hubs, security and climate change will be discussed. The Forum will be brought to a closure with a summary of key insights from the discussion brought together by Professor Greg Clark.
