According to a recent source from the Secretariat of the International Mountain Tourism Alliance (IMTA), the IMTA headquarters has settled in Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, China, and the bid for the concrete construction plan of the headquarters building has been completed.
On 15 May 2017, IMTA was established in Xingyi, Qianxinan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province. Comprising 126 members from 29 countries and regions in five continents, with its headquarters and secretariat in Guiyang, Guizhou Province, IMTA is the world’s first international mountain tourism organization initiated by China, as well as the first international organization headquartered outside Beijing.
Guizhou with great mountain resources, is an ideal place for mountain tourism research and practice. Over the past years, Guizhou has accumulated rich experience in mountain tourism development. Under new circumstances and new opportunity of world tourism development, as a province rich in mountain resources, Guizhou has internal conditions and external environment for building an international high-end platform for mountain tourism exchanges.
IMTA is committed to protecting and utilizing mountain tourism resources, promoting international tourism exchanges and cooperation, summarizing and popularizing the successful experience of developing mountain tourism, promoting the prosperity of the mountain economy, culture and society, and advancing the sustainable development of mountain and ecological tourism.
With an area of 40,000 square meters, located in Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone, the proposed headquarters building of IMTA enjoys convenient transportation. It is only a five-minute ride away from the Guiyang Longdongbu International Airport and a 30-minute ride away from Guiyang’s railway stations.
