In 2017, Los Angeles showed record in tourism, airport & cargo businesses

download (2)2017 has been a record year for Los Angeles in terms of number of tourists, airport passengers and port cargo.

On Wednesday, Eric Garcetti, the Mayor and other city leaders declared 2017 statistics in a report.

The tourism board of the city explains that LA had 48.3 million visitors. This was up by more than 2 percent over 2016. In a series, it was the seventh record-breaking year. International tourism reports over 7 million visits, also a record, even though the nationwide figure dropped.

Officials explain that “Everyone is Welcome” in the promotional campaign launched to attract international tourists in spite of new restrictions on travel enacted by the administration of President Trump.

Los Angeles International Airport managed over 849 million passengers, a 5 percent up in one year.

Also, the Port of Los Angeles showed moving a record-breaking 9.3 million cargo containers.
