indexLately, Brexit Britain has turned out to be a big visitor attraction. Record number of visitors in August visited the UK and they spent out £2.8bn, the highest monthly tourist spent so far.

From the EU, number of visitors increased by 6% which accounted to 2.4m. This pushed the total number of foreign visitors to UK in August to 3.9m and this accounted 5% up on last year’s levels.

The Brexit vote, and the drop in the value of pound has made the UK an affordable destination in terms of overseas tourists. This drove an explosion in bargain hunters from the US, Europe, and China who are keen to buy luxury leather goods and designer brands at cheaper rates than they can get those items at home.

The countryside of the UK has not remained behind either with hotels having a double-digit rise in the Lake District in their bookings for July.

Sites associated with popular books, films and TV programmes have also been busy in attracting crowds. They comprise the locations in Northern Ireland used in Game of Thrones, and events connected to the 20th anniversary of the first Harry Potter book and the 200th anniversary of the death of Jane Austen.
