In tourism tax, Malaysia collects more than US$ 141K

In tourism tax, MalaysiaOver US$ 141k has recently been collected by the Malaysian government in terms of tourism tax at the first month of its implementation.

In a written revert to Anthony Loke (DAP-Seremban), the Finance Ministry explained that the sum total of collection was RM610, 280 from 4,671 lodgings countrywide from Sept 1st to Sept 30th, 2017

Just from 292 lodgings, Penang attracted the biggest chunk at RM241, 460, followed by Kuala Lumpur with RM185, 750 from 718 lodgings and Johor with RM52, 550 from 554 lodgings respectively.

Malaysians permanent residents have recently been exempted from taxpaying, where as foreign tourists are levied a flat rate of RM10 per room per night for all hotel classifications.
