This Thursday evening, Africa’s premier tourism trade show, INDABA came to a close. For the last 20 years, the event is being organized every year in South Africa. It focuses to display an array of tourism products and experiences from around the continent.
More than 7,000 participants from various international government and private tour operators from Europe and the United States were seen at the event.
South Africa’s Department of Tourism along with the South African Tourism Board permits over 20 African countries to endorse their main drawcards to all those leaders and experts from both local and global tourism industry. Organizers and exhibitors take this event as a key opportunity to make the most from the tourism trade.
Tanzania is famous among the visitors for its natural attractions. These include the famous Serengeti National Park and immaculate coastlines. Philip Chitaunga the Tourism Services Manager of the Tanzanian Tourism Board confirmed that the country attracts more than a million overseas visitors every year since it has huge backwoods along with dense wildlife. At the same time, he also says the country is a place of tremendous historical significance for humanity.
To quote Philip Chitaunga, ‘One more thing which is very good is when you talk about the evolution of human beings – we have evidence which shows the world that the first human being to walk on two feet walked in Tanzania at a place called Laetoli in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.’
