India declares complete lockdown amid COVID-19 pandemic

Published on : Wednesday, March 25, 2020

In a strong response to the coronavirus crisis, India declared a complete lockdown for 21 days. On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the country and announced a nationwide lockdown. The decision comes as the number of coronavirus cases continues to rise across the globe.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in India crossed the 500-mark this week with around 11 deaths so far. The restriction came into force from 25th March 2020 at 12:00 AM (18:30 GMT). Every Indian citizen has been asked to stay at home and all non-essential travel has been banned. Strict measures are being undertaken on anyone who fails to abide by the rule. All-essential services including healthcare and food services are exempted from the lockdown.

Mr. Modi said in his statement that every street and every neighborhood of the country is being put under lockdown to save India, the country’s citizen as well as their families. He mentioned that social distancing is the only way to stop the deadly COVID-19 virus from spreading further. He warned that if these 21 days of lockdown is not handled well, the country will hold the risk of going back by 21 years. He officially declared the lockdown as a curfew and mentioned that despite the economic cost that has to be paid, everyone has to come together to curb the spread of the virus in the country.

Indian police have already been given the responsibility to break public gatherings and stop people from unnecessary traveling even in local streets.  All tourist attraction venues have been shut and every religious institution has been asked to close their doors. Every educational, training and research institutions have been ordered to remain closed. The government has also barred all social, political, sports, entertainment, cultural and religious gatherings.  Funerals are exempted from the ban however congregations are not allowed to host more than 20 people.

The countrywide lockdown came after several Indian states took it upon themselves to introduce state-wise lockdown and travel restrictions.

One Response to India declares complete lockdown amid COVID-19 pandemic

Like other countries in whole of the World , India is also facing a tremendous problem in the present day. India has declared a 21 days i.e. 3 Weeks lock down in the entire country from 25th March up to 14th April,2020.
But my question is ” Is it only way to remove CORONA VIRUS from the world?”
Until and unless, we will discover Anti virus/ Immunization it is very tough to handle the present situation. How many days will declare Lock down?
Because it may be happened that, we do not find out essential commodities from the market. People have to panic to purchase large number of commodities from the market. Therefore, it may create rises of the prices of essential commodities. A certain portion of the businessman have to collect black money through this situation.
Like India most of the people are poor and they earn daily basis. So, long day lock down can create economic Pandemic.
Therefore I would like to request Govt. to provide essential commodities to every family.Otherwise they have fixed the charges of essential commodities according to Market price. They should take responsibility to save every citizen in our country. They should provide medical facility those who are suffering by Corona Virus.
At last I would like to request All Scientist that,as soon as possible they should bring ANTIVIRUS/ IMMUNIZATION to protect all the people of the world.
