India has outpaces Russia and China and achieved the annual growth of 18.8% by receiving a record number of domestic air passengers. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has disclosed in 2015 that India has received the fastest domestic air passenger growth in the entire world.
In 2015, India has surpassed the performances of Russia, China and United States.
In the 60th edition of the yearbook, World Air Transport Statistics (WATS), the growth statistics of aviation industry has been published.
IATA’s CEO and director general, Tony Tyler has stated, “Last year airlines safely carried 3.6 billion passengers—the equivalent of 48% of the Earth’s population—and transported 52.2 million tonnes of cargo worth around $6 trillion. In doing so, we supported some $2.7 trillion in economic activity and 63 million jobs.”
According to the report, American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Delta Airlines, China Southern Airlines and Ryanair have been ranked as the top five airlines in the world for carrying huge number of scheduled passengers.
