For the UAE tourists, India has simplified visa and entry procedures by providing them a visa-on-arrival facility. In line with the recent regulation, Emiratis visiting India can get visa-on-arrival at six designated international airports like Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai.
On November 16th, the new visa facility which was introduce is offered for 60 days with extra benefits like a double entry for business, tourism, conference and medical purposes, India’s external affairs ministry officials told PTI.
Who can get visa-on-arrival?
However, the ministry clearly mentioned that the visa-on-arrival is available only to those UAE nationals who had obtained an e-Visa earlier or a normal paper visa for India, irrespective of the fact that whether the individual truly visited India or not. Those UAE nationals coming to India for the first time are directed to apply for e-Visa or a normal paper visa, PTI reported.
“A special gesture for the UAE with whom India has a comprehensive strategic partnership. Privileged to assume charge. Hope to further strengthen the warm India-UAE relations,” said a statement released by Indian embassy in Abu Dhabi.
Tourism, Medical Purposes
Maximum Emiratis come to India for tourism, business and medical purposes and their numbers in recent years has shown constant growth. Many important Indian hospitals have seen a major growth in the number of patients from Emirates, thanks to highly skilled Indian doctors and low treatment costs.
Lately, India, along with other countries, has been making visa rules simple in an apparent move to draw tourists worldwide, including the Gulf region. As part of the move, India now offers e-Visa facility to citizens of around 170 countries.
