India to build rail linksAiming to develop regional connectivity and boost trade, India wants to build rail links with Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar and Nepal.

New Delhi is also keen to extend the 1,400-kilometre India-Myanmar-Thailand highway project to Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam in the second phase.

“We have a very cordial relationship with them. We want to increase railway connectivity with these countries. We are trying to develop it,” Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said in West Bengal’s Darjeeling town.

“If a circuit can be made connecting these neighbouring countries, it will increase interaction, tourism, trade, employment and connectivity,” he said recently, according to local media.
