The Union Tourism Ministry of India has allocated ₹107 crores for Puducherry to promote tourism projects under the government’s Swadesh Darshan initiative and also under heritage tourism schemes, Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy said.
Speaking after hoisting the national flag on the occasion of Puducherry’s Liberation Day on Beach Road here on Wednesday, Mr. Narayanasamy said the government was committed to promoting tourism on all weekdays and all the four regions would be brought under a common circuit of tourism-related projects.
In an important development law and order was under control and crime rate had come down by 13 % because of steps taken by the police and public cooperation.
Mr. Narayanasamy said the administrative reforms initiated by the government would put Puducherry on a higher pedestal. Dengue was now under control due to the coordinated efforts on the part of the health and other departments making the UT safe for tourism.
