People living there have adhered to their own beliefs and earned their livelihood herding goats and agriculture in wheat fields. But now, traditions fade faster as large number of Indian middle class tourists flock to Ladakh for a relaxing holiday in the terrains. This is turn has improved the quality of life and food for local people but has made them hungry for more.

Buddhists are the majority of population in these villages in Leh. The Indian government predicts arrival of 313,000 tourists in 2017, exceeding the region’s residents and previous visitors. This has given rise to concerns like clogging narrow roads, pollution and receding glaciers. However, for the youth here, tourism means better future and it has made their lives easier and comfortable than before.

Schooling has also got an improvement here with students learning new technology and spending time working on laptops.
