In a bid to exploit the huge harness of sea tourism in Indonesia, the country has decided to promote its sea tourism at the Taipei Tourism Fair, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported Indonesian Minister of Tourism Arief Yahya as saying. The Tourism Fair will take place from June 17-19.
Despite the huge sea tourism potential from some 17,000 islands of various biodiversity and coral reefs, the number of tourists visiting Indonesia was still low, Yahya said.
In order to realise the goal of chieving four million tourists for the sea tourism sector by 2019, the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism will continue promoting sea tourism and nature tourism via overseas activities.
Indonesia has set a target of attracting 13.5 million tourists in 2017 with a revenue equal to 15 per cent of the gross domestic product. Reports point out that the country is fast heading towards its goal.
