Indonesia TransportHistory was created today at the luxurious Ritz Carlton, Mega Kunigan, with the inking of a strategic partnership between Indonesia’s leading event organiser Reed Panorama Exhibitions and Kamar Dagang Dan Industri Indonesia, Asosiasi Logistik Dan Forwarder Indonesia as well as Asosiasi Logistik Indonesia.

In an exclusive collaboration, the leading Indonesian associations and Reed Panorama Exhibitions will be introducing Indonesia Transport, Supply Chain and Logistics (ITSCL) co-located with Intralogistics Indonesia (ILI). This will be the only focused exhibition of its kind in Indonesia. “This important gathering of industry stakeholders involved in the entire supply chain, signals a momentous occasion for Indonesia, as it brings together local partners and government agencies committed to helping to craft a new development strategy whilst also examining the gaps and weaknesses in the industry,” commented Carmelita Hartoto, Vice Chairwoman for Logistics and Treasurer, Kamar Dagang Dan Industri Indonesia (KADIN).

Staying afloat amidst the global economic downturn!

Despite the global economic downturn which weakened exports, the Indonesian logistics sector has shown resiliance. In fact, consumer demand and industry activity has increased across the archipelago, helped by growing domestic consumption due to the expansion of the country’s SMEs. All this is being bolstered by numerous large scale infrastructure projects as well as the formulation of a cohesive strategy by the government and private sector in the form of the National Logistic Blueprint. All these are definitely steps in the right direction to make Indonesia’s logistics sector regionally and globally competitive.

“The upcoming ASEAN Connectivity Plan and the ASEAN One Market in 2015 are definitely creating a sense of urgency to improve the logistics sector in Indonesia. The arrival of the ITSCL & ILI is definitely timely”, said Michelle Lim, President Director of Reed Panorama Exhibitions. Agreeing with her is Iskandar Zulkarnain, Chairman, Asosiasi Logistik dan Forwarder Indonesia/Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association (ALFI/ILFA): “The roadmap that will be created by introducing ITSCL & ILI into Indonesia will shed new light and give the local market a much needed voice to network and benchmark with their international counterparts in one strategic venue. Helping to bolster and drive the growth, it will also create an inevitable future for SISLOGNAS- which will form the blueprint and the foundation for the nation.”

Transforming Indonesia’s infrastructure, transport and logistics sector

Transport and Logistics Services, Information Systems and Technologies, Logistics Infrastructure, Logistics Real Estate as well as Materials Handling Equipment and Services are five of the key sectors featured in this new annual event, which is expected to draw over 200 exhibitors, with six country pavillions namely Belguim, China, France, Japan, Singapore and the United States of America as well as leading Indonesian companies converging on the floorspace at JL Expo. This mammoth event is poised to be the singular place where Indonesian and international transportation, logistic, supply chain and material handling companies will congregate to discuss, network, strategise as well as create new business opportunities. “ITSCL & ILI will create a strategic approach to foster and develop the skillsets of the industry whilst allowing Indonesia to see how leading global logistic players are growing and developing their market shares”, said Zaldy Masita, President, Asosiasi Logistik Indonesiav (ALI).

The event will be part of the Reed Exhibitions Transport & Logistics portfolio which includes over 19 international exhibitions around the world. The organiser will put together a programme that has a  broad spectrum appeal  to both local and international players who wish to seek a strong foothold in the logistics playground of Indonesia. “Indonesia’s exuberence in the logistics sector is luring our European exhibitor to showcase their prowess and solutions that are relevant for this market. We are extremely proud to be working with our sister company Reed Panorama Exhibitions in delivering Indonesia’s version of SITL”, Alain Bagnaud, Managing Director, Reed Exhibitions Transport & Logistics said.
